Here, Pop Art giant Keith Haring meets street art legend Banksy. Invader shares the limelight with polka-dot icon Yayoi Kusama. A must-have for all urban art fans, who can discover here the diverse trends encompassed by what is perhaps the most popular movement in art!

Treasures of contemporary art are revealed in unprecedented abundance: they have been gathered since the late 1990s at the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art (MUCA) in Munich, one of the most significant collections of its kind internationally. Newcomers have become leading figures in the art scene, incorporating the urban landscape into their practice. This volume presents pioneering works by artists in a visually striking and comprehensive manner. They engage viewers directly, often by making them part of the works – for example, through the discourse surrounding Banksy’s spectacular performance art or by literally stepping into JR’s colossal photographic interventions. The book brings together the diverse styles of urban contemporary art, thereby creating a complete panorama. We are thus celebrating a quarter of a century of the MUCA story.

Artists

Banksy, Christo, Faile, S. Fairey, R. Hambleton, K. Haring, C. Harrington, D. Hirst, P.
