The MUCA is delighted to present \"The Future Is Stupid\" - the first major survey exhibition dedicated to the career of the renowned British painter Antony Micallef <\/a>is dedicated to.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exhibition celebrates more than twenty years of career<\/strong> of the artist and unites over fifty key works<\/strong> from Micallef's oeuvre and a impressive new series of paintings created especially for the museum presentation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"The Future Is Stupid\"<\/strong> was realised in close collaboration with the artist within the framework of a one-year artist-in-residence programme, sponsored by the MUCA Foundation<\/a><\/strong>developed. The exhibition combines painting, sculpture, animation and politically engaged projects and shows an artist who is continuously pushing the expressive and critical potential of contemporary painting.<\/p>\n

In addition to important paintings from his entire career, the exhibition will include a selection of rare bronze editions that have been on display since their creation. Presentation at the Royal Academy<\/strong> were no longer shown publicly in 2008.<\/p>\n

The exhibition also highlights Micallef's wider creative practice through several significant interdisciplinary projects. These include the impressive animated film for Peter Gabriel's song Love Will Heal<\/em><\/strong>which was organised in cooperation with the Oscar-winning<\/strong> Aardman Animation Studio. The film will be shown in the MUCA Bunker and offers visitors a immersive encounter with Micallef's visual language.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Since 02 January 2026 we present Highlights of our permanent collection at the MUCA.<\/strong>
\nAmong them outstanding\u00a0Representatives of urban and contemporary art<\/strong>how\u00a0Banksy, Shepard Fairey,<\/strong>\u00a0Keith Haring<\/strong>,\u00a0Invader<\/strong>,\u00a0Antony Micallef, Kusama,<\/strong>\u00a0Swoon, and much more.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MUCA collection had its\u00a0Starting point in 1998<\/strong>\u00a0with the first works that can be attributed to pop and street art culture. In the course of the MUCA's development, it became\u00a0around important international artists <\/strong>extended.<\/p>\n

The MUCA collection now comprises\u00a0over 1,200 objects and works<\/strong>from which selected exhibits are currently\u00a0Co-operation museums worldwide<\/strong>\u00a0as will now be seen again at the Munich site<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
